“St. Benedict’s Monastery, Old Snowmass”
Come on a retreat in the quiet of midwinter to renew yourself and
explore the relationship between writing and spirituality. The
contemplative beauty of St. Benedict’s, at 8,000 ft., offers the
emptiness and peace needed for deep work. Writers will have hours alone
and together to work in poetry or prose and to discuss readings of
ancient and modern literature inspired by the feminine sacred. This is
five days to engage in spiritual practice, and to dream and expand your
craft, whether you are an experienced or beginning writer.
You may also meet with the resident monks, attend vespers or
mass, and ski or hike on the monastery grounds. Yoga sessions afternoon
and evenings with Susan Crosby of Yoga West; high-quality food and
retreat lodging.
Monastery lodging: $150. Spaces also available for commuters.
Retreat and meals: $325 ($300 if paid in full by 11/22/07). You may also choose to pay a deposit and the balance in January.
