Writing the Sacred '07

Franciscan Retreat Center, Colorado Springs
March 1-4, 2007

"I have scarcely touched the clay, and I am made of it."

-- Antonio Porchia

This is an early spring retreat to renew yourself and explore the relationship between writing and spirituality on sacred ground. The St. Francis retreat center, tucked into a valley at 6800 ft., with much wildlife, offers contemplative beauty and peace. Writers will have hours alone and together to work in poetry or prose and to discuss readings of ancient and modern literature inspired by the sacred. This is a long weekend to write, dream and expand your craft, whether you are an experienced or beginning writer.

You may also hike or snowshoe on the center’s 100 acres or the trails of Mt. Cedar, meditate in the chapel, attend mass or vespers, or meet with one of the gentle sisters in residence. An extraordinary yoga teacher, Julia Jakubowski, will hold Anusara yoga sessions for all levels mornings and afternoons. Quality food (vegetarian and vegan available) and lodging in stone retreat houses.

The Franciscan Retreat Center is just north of Colorado Springs, approximately 1 hour from Denver, 5 hours from Grand Junction.
