"I felt transported. I stayed up until 6 a.m. and only went to sleep finally because
I thought maybe I ought to. But not before the sun came up, and the birds got into
full swing. I felt like I'd taken in some powerful medicine, which I had."
Katharine Salzmann, Oregon retreat

| These are three to five-day women's retreats to renew the self, to write alone and with a supportive group, and to explore the relationship between writing and spirituality. Generally, we meet in the quiet of the morning to discuss modern and ancient literature inspired by a theme, followed by writing exercises. In the afternoons, women generally walk, hike, get together, ski, sleep, meditate, write or do yoga, depending on the season and place. We often meet in the evenings to read to each other. Some retreats offer river rafting, visual arts, Anusara yoga, Christian services or Zen talks. All include careful response to one's work, high-quality meals, lodging and quiet hours in contemplative environments |
